The 4 Songster f-hole guitars -- No. 1 (left) & No. 4 (right) have a bit different headstock than the
other two or the Nite Hawk -- the center dip is not as pronounced. As noted, Nos. 1 & 4 have 20 fret
necks, unlike all other Slingerlands that have 19 fret necks. Both Nos. 1, 3, & 4 have a
body length of 19.75", while No. 2 has a length of 19.375". The body width at the lower
bout is 15½" for all of them, and the upper bout is within a sixteenth of an inch for all
three, being around 11.125".
The backs of the instruments... the arch on No. 1 is a bit more pronounced than the other 2... but all 3 have
approximately the same arch to the top. These guitars sound generally about the same, pretty mid-range and
"thumpy", but Nos. 3 & 4 are a bit brighter due to the bone saddle and the thinner bridge, and
I think that they have been played more. All guitars have a 25" scale.
